The camp was organised by ARPO and Faizal and Shabana Foundation in association with the Vidyarangam Kala Sahitya Vedi
A total of 109 teachers from 108 schools in Kozhikode participated in a one-day camp organised under the LoreKeepers programme on October 10, 2023 at the Krishna Menon Museum and Art Gallery in Kozhikode. It aimed to acquaint the teachers with the work of ARPO Lorekeepers and how they could contribute to its mission of preserving our oral traditions.
It was organised in collaboration with Vidyarangam Kala Sahityavedi, an institution under the Education Department for promoting extracurricular activities in school students. This was the first official collaboration between ARPO and the Education Department.
The camp was inaugurated by District Sub-Collector Chelsasini V, in a function presided by C Manoj Kumar, Deputy Director of Education, Kozhikode. Sessions were conducted by renowned folklorist EK Govindaraja Varma, along with Lorekeepers Project Manager Majeesh Karyad and ARPO Executive Director Sruthin Lal. They equipped teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to collect songs and tales using mobile phones. The event concluded with a captivating folk song performance by Majeesh Karyaad.
