5 Nov 2023

The event was a follow up to a camp for teachers held a month ago

The LoreKeepers team organised an event to appreciate the invaluable contributions of teachers of Kozhikode district to the LoreKeepers Project on Nov 4, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian Girls Higher Secondary School, Calicut.

Each educator who collected folk songs and stories from their locality and shared with the LoreKeepers database received a memento as a token of appreciation and gratitude, symbolizing the immense value of their contributions to preserving the oral traditions of the region. The event was organized in association with the Vidyarangam Kala Sahithya Vedi.

This included teachers like Jisha C P, who singlehandedly collected nearly 50 lores from and her family and neighbourhood.

The event highlighted the vital role that educators can play in preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge, and emphasizing the collective commitment to safeguarding our cultural heritage. It was a follow up of a camp for teachers conducted at Krishna Menon Museum and Art Gallary October 10, 2023.
